Junk removal in Highland Park
Highland Park is full of old Craftsman homes, hillside lots and houses in the middle of a remodel. We haul household junk and renovation debris for homeowners, investors, agents and contractors across the neighborhood.

Old houses and the historic district
Highland Park has one of the richest collections of early 1900s homes in Los Angeles, and many of them are Craftsman bungalows. A large part of the neighborhood sits inside the Highland Park-Garvanza Historic Preservation Overlay Zone, the largest HPOZ in the city. If you're renovating there, your contractor will know the review process. Our part is simpler: we haul away what comes out.
Old houses come with crawl spaces, sheds, basements and detached garages, and that's where junk tends to collect. Detached garages built for much smaller cars are often packed to the rafters with storage. On the hillier blocks, many homes sit up a flight of steps from the street.
Remodel and flip work
Plenty of houses here are being restored, expanded or flipped. That means steady demand for construction debris removal: drywall, old lath, wood, tile, flooring and cabinets. Highland Park is in the City of LA, and city rules say that debris must go to a certified construction and demolition recycling facility. We take it there, and you get before and after photos of the site.
Older homes can have asbestos in some materials, and we can't take asbestos. If your contractor has tested or flagged anything, tell us before we price the job. We can also come between phases, like once after demo and again at the end, so debris doesn't pile up in the yard.
Restorations often save original doors, windows and trim. Tell us what's staying, and the crew will leave it alone. Contractors usually just text us a few photos from the site, and that's all we need to send a written price.
Other jobs we see here
- Estate cleanouts of family homes owned for decades
- Garage and shed cleanouts before a sale or an ADU build
- Yard waste and old fencing from overgrown lots
- Old appliances left in basements and on back porches
- Clearing a back house or converted garage that's been used as storage for years
- Tenant move-outs in duplexes and small apartment buildings off York and Figueroa
- Agents getting an inherited or newly flipped house empty for photos
Access and nearby areas
Tell us if the house sits up a stairway, if the driveway is shared, and whether we can stop on the street. York Boulevard and Figueroa Street get busy, so loading from a side street is often easier. On the steep streets toward Mount Washington, roads can be narrow with no shoulder, and a photo of the street out front helps us plan.
We also work in Mount Washington, Eagle Rock, Glassell Park and Cypress Park, all part of our Hollywood and Eastside area.
FAQ
Questions about Highland Park
My house is in the HPOZ. Does that change anything for junk removal?
Not for hauling. HPOZ rules are about the building itself, so check with your contractor or LA City Planning before changing anything on the house. Clearing out junk and debris is our job.
Can you take old plaster and lath from a Craftsman remodel?
Usually, yes. Some older materials can contain asbestos, which we can't take, so let us know if anything has been tested or flagged.
Can you haul once after demo and again at the end of the remodel?
Yes. Send photos after demo for the first load, then again near the end. Each visit gets its own fixed price before we load anything.
