Junk removal in Koreatown

Koreatown packs more apartments into a few square miles than almost anywhere else in LA. Most of our jobs here are walk-ups, older courtyard buildings and towers along Wilshire, and almost none of them come with easy parking.

  • One fixed price in writing
  • Same-day service often available
  • Free return if anything's not right

Old buildings, tight hallways, lots of stairs

A big share of Koreatown was built up in the 1920s and 1930s, and many of those brick and stucco apartment buildings are still standing. Expect narrow hallways, tight turns at the landings and small elevators, or none at all. The newer mid-rise and high-rise buildings along Wilshire, Vermont and Western have elevators, but they often come with rules about when you can use them to move things.

Since most people here rent, move-outs drive the bulk of our Koreatown work. A unit might have a full apartment of furniture in it, or just a mattress and a dozen bags. Either way, we open the closets, the kitchen cabinets and the fridge before we call it done.

Turnovers here bunch up around the first and last days of the month, when leases change hands. If you manage a building, sending photos about a week before a unit goes vacant gives you the best chance at the date you want.

Who we work with here

Property managers and building owners call most, usually for turnovers. See move-out and eviction cleanouts for how those work.

  • Turnovers where the next tenant is moving in soon and the unit has to be completely empty
  • Basement storage rooms and parking garages full of things past tenants left behind
  • Renters who need a couch, bed or desk gone before their own move
  • Contractors renovating a unit who need old cabinets, carpet and tile hauled off

Parking is the hard part, so tell us what you know

Finding a place to stop is the biggest challenge in Koreatown. Curbs are often red, metered or full, and driveways are usually shared. These details help us plan:

  • Is there an alley, loading zone or driveway we can use for a short time?
  • How many flights of stairs are there to the unit?
  • Does the building have an elevator, and does management need to reserve it?
  • Is the garage underground? Many have low ceilings, so we may need to load from the street.
  • Who lets us in: a manager on site, a lockbox or a gate code?
  • Is there a back stair or service door? In many older buildings it's a much easier way out than the front entrance.

Nearby neighborhoods

Koreatown sits in the middle of Los Angeles, and every neighborhood around it is in our area: Mid-Wilshire, Hancock Park, Harvard Heights, Westlake, Pico-Union and East Hollywood. See the full Mid-City and Central LA list. If you manage buildings in a few of these areas, send all the jobs at once and we'll price each one. Many of those areas have the same older walk-ups, so the same stair and parking tips apply.

FAQ

Questions about Koreatown

Can you get a sofa down a narrow walk-up stairwell?

Most of the time, yes. Send a photo of the stairs and the landing. If a piece truly won't make the turn, we'll talk through options with you before the job, not on the day.

Can you clear several units in the same building on one visit?

Yes. Send photos of each unit and you'll get one written price for the whole job. Managers handling turnovers in larger buildings do this often.

What if the old tenant left paint or cleaning chemicals?

We can't take hazardous waste. LA Sanitation runs free S.A.F.E. drop-off centers for that, and we'll take everything else in the unit.
